Type VFD Power Cables

APPLICATIONS:
Shielded power cables for important circuits in industrial plants and station control cable for electric utilities in fossil fueled or nuclear generating stations. Suitable for the operation and interconnection of protective devices; rated circuit voltage 600 volts; recommended for operation at 90°C continuous conductor temperature in dry or wet locations; approved for installation in cable trays per Article 336 of the NEC, and for use in NEC Hazardous Locations: Class I - Div 2, Class II - Div 2, and Class III, Div 1 and 2. Cables may be installed in open air, in ducts or conduits, in tray or trough, and are suitable for direct burial. Suitable for variable frequency drive applications. VFD cables are designed to reduce cable failure, the cross talk, stray currents, and bearing damage due to common mode currents.

CONSTRUCTION:
Stranded copper conductors, XLP (Cross-Linked Polyethylene) insulated, Method 4 phase-identified; three insulated conductors cabled with one stranded copper grounding conductor in each of the interstices and each in contact with helically applied copper tape shield, black PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) jacket overall, surface printed.

STANDARDS:

  • Copper conductors conform to ASTM B-3 & B-8.
  • Individual conductors conform to UL Standard 44, and are approved as Type XHHW-2.
  • TC Type Tray Cable per Article 336 of the NEC.
  • Cables suitable for sunlight resistant and direct burial applications.
  • Cables designed to pass the IEEE-383 and IEEE-1202 tests.
  • Cables meet requirements of ICEA S-95-658/NEMA WC70.
